Dr Andrew Duncan grew up in Adelaide. After obtaining a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree at Adelaide University, he moved to Perth to study Veterinary Science at Murdoch University, where he met Claire. After graduating in 1987, he moved back to Adelaide and worked in a small animal metropolitan practice for 5 years. Together with Claire, they established the Rose Park Veterinary Surgery in 1992. Andrew enjoys all aspects of veterinary work and has special interests in consulting and general surgery. Outside of work Andrew is a keen bike rider, enjoying in particular riding through the Adelaide Hills.
Dr Claire Duncan grew up in Perth and studied Veterinary Science at Murdoch University. She graduated in 1988 and moved to Adelaide the following year and worked in two metropolitan small animal practices for 5 years before establishing Rose Park Veterinary Surgery. She spends her time divided between the surgery, their 4 adult children, Meals on Wheels and the Norwood Swimming Club. The house is completed with ‘Wally’ the Griffon Bruxellois, ‘Louie’ the Cavoodle and ‘Hamish’ and ‘Andy’ the Burmese cats. Claire no longer consults but spends her time in the surgical suit, specialising in soft tissue surgery.
Dr Craig Toyer originally hails from Sydney and studied Veterinary Science at Sydney University. After graduating in 2002, he moved to Adelaide and worked for 5 years in various Adelaide metropolitan small animal practices. He joined Rose Park in 2007. Craig is married to Kylie -and they have 2 daughters Brooke and Gemma. Their household is currently ruled by 'Shadow' the cat, but the girls are very keen to again have a canine member in the family. Craig has special interests in canine and feline medicine and dentistry. Outside of work, Craig enjoys cooking, wine, soccer and golf.
Sally grew up in Adelaide and studied Veterinary Science at Murdoch University Western Australia. After graduating in 2000, she moved back home to Adelaide and has been working in metropolitan small animal practice since then. She joined Rose Park Vet in 2015. She lives with her fiancé Damon and her Shetland Sheepdog ‘Maya’, who definitely rules the household. Sally has special interests in medicine and dentistry as well as dog behaviour and environmental enrichment. In her spare time Sally enjoys walking Maya, dog agility, obedience and training, gardening and spending time with family.
Dr Hamish Burns has been a member of the Rose Park Veterinary clinic for a number of years completing placements and work experiences with us, he commenced working as a consultant and surgeon in early 2017 after graduating from the University of Adelaide. He is enthusiastic, professional and can often be found cuddling one of the patients at lunch as he types up his notes. At home Hamish has a tiny companion called Smudge, a toy poodle cross. Smudge tips the scales at just under 3kg and Hamish being 6'5 often gets some interesting looks when taking Smudge out for walks. In his spare time, he lives an active lifestyle and enjoys getting out of town with any opportunity he gets to go diving, surfing or hiking.
Leah recently joined the Rose Park team as Practice Manager, with 15yrs experience in the Veterinary Industry. She is a qualified Veterinary Nurse, Workplace and Business Coach and has her Advanced Diploma in Management. She is currently studying her Bachelor of Business, HR Management, and enjoys spending whatever free time she has left with her family and friends. She has a very special boy at home, Levi, her deaf white fluffy cat, who definitely rules the roost!
Leigh grew up on a farm on the Yorke Pensinsula, and moved to Adelaide after graduating high school. She started nursing way back in 1999, and joined the team at Rose Park in 2003. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing, in particular surgery and client relations, and has a soft spot for geriatric patients. Leigh shares her home with her husband Kev, Beagle x Rottweiler 'Bazza' (pictured), newly adopted domestic short hair cat 'Morton', 3 turtles and many fish - makes for a very busy household!
Kath grew up in Adelaide and has been vet nursing since 2001 and joined Rose Park in 2004. After volunteering at the fauna centre, while she studied at the University of South Australia, Kath knew she wanted to work with animals. She enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Nursing but her main interests are nursing ward patients and surgery. At home, Kath loves spending time with her husband Robbie and her young son, Hamish and also, her Budgerigar, Benjamin. Kath enjoys going to the beach with her family and travelling. She also enjoys a good cup of coffee!
Nicole joined us in 2016 and has been a Veterinary Nurse for nearly 9 years. She completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2015. Nicole has a varied nursing background working from the outback, to the beach, to the city. Her favourite component of nursing is feline medicine, enrichment and behaviour. In her spare time, she likes to go to the beach, snow ski and nap. At home, she has a big ginger cat, ‘Benjamin-James’ who likes to go for walks, high-five and eat from his enrichment feeders.
Jess grew up in a small country town and has wanted to work with animals for as long as she can remember. When she was 9, she moved to Canberra with her family and it was around then she found out about vet nursing and has stuck with that path ever since. She completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2016. Last October Jess moved from Canberra to be with her partner and began working at Rose Park Vet in November 2017. Over the years Jess has owned a variety of animals and currently has two cats she absolutely adores (shown; Mack, the ginger, and Cairo, the grey and white fluffy). When she’s not spending time with her cats she can be found playing some casual tennis with her partner or exploring new places.
Lexi moved to Adelaide in 2010 from Hong Kong to start her university education, eventually leading her to getting a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Bioscience. She has been nursing for over a year and has really grown to love supporting people and their animals. Eventually Lexi plans to finish her veterinary postgraduate degree but in the meantime nursing is a great career and wants to keep learning everything she can. Outside of the veterinary life you will find her at the beach soaking up the sunshine or doing something that involves the outdoors. Her family consists of her partner Brad, Labrador Charlie and Pippin and Sid her two ferrets.
Nic has been nursing for just over 5 years, and completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2017, after a career change from hairdressing. Enjoying all aspects of veterinary nursing, she has a particular interest in surgery and nursing hospitalised patients back to health. Nic has two fur children, Shadow and Ellie (both Labradors) who steal all the quilt when it comes to bedtime! Ellie’s favourite thing being beach adventures and belly rubs, and Shadow is in his element when it comes to dinner time and loves a cuddle on the couch! Other hobbies Nic enjoys are pilates, beach walks with her fur kids and spending time with family, oh and cheese tasting
Tegan grew up on her family’s farm in the Fleurieu Peninsula, this is where she developed her love of animals. After graduating Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2013, she has worked in both general practice and speciality. Her interests include nursing hospital patients, behaviour and enrichment. In her spare time Tegan enjoys traveling, leisurely bike rides, and hiking with her husband and energetic border collie Ellie.
Vinnie has been our resident budgie since 2014 after we adopted and hand-reared him. He is a super friendly fellow who loves sitting on our nurse's shoulders whilst they go about their reception duties. The rest of his time is spent looking at himself in the mirror.

Nemo came to us as a young bird in 2017 after he was found being attacked by magpies. He was wounded with a sore eye and injured leg. Whilst we were nursing him back to health, he formed a friendship with Vinnie and we couldn’t bear to separate them. They now spend their days together singing, dancing, playing and feeding each other.
